Frequently asked questions
How GuardPrivacy protects a registrant's private details while keeping them reachable, and how to contact an owner or report abuse.
WHOIS privacy protection replaces your personal contact information in public domain records with alternative contact details operated by GuardPrivacy. This prevents spam, telemarketing and identity-related risks while remaining compliant with ICANN requirements.
Use the Contact a Domain Owner form. Your message is screened for abuse and spam, then, where appropriate, relayed to the registrant. Their private email address is never revealed to you, and delivery does not guarantee a reply.
No. GuardPrivacy is a privacy intermediary. We appear as the contact in the public record and relay legitimate communications, but the registrant retains full ownership and control of their domain.
GuardPrivacy administrators can see your address because it is needed to relay any reply. The registrant sees the content of your message through a secure channel; your details are shared only to the extent needed to communicate.
No. Privacy protection only masks contact information in public records. All ownership rights and control remain with the registrant.
The service is designed in line with GDPR principles for handling personal data, minimising what is collected and protecting it, while still meeting ICANN's registration requirements.
Use the Report Abuse form. Reports are reviewed by our trust & safety team and, where the evidence supports it, forwarded to the registrant or escalated to the registrar. Serious categories are prioritised.
Through a controlled relay. Messages are reviewed and, when appropriate, forwarded to the registrant's real address while keeping it private. Documented processes also exist for legal and law-enforcement requests.
Still need to reach someone?
